Hachette Book Group and Stable Distribution Announces Inaugural Slate of Publishing Partners Ahead of January 2026 Launch

PETALUMA, CA, NEW YORK, NY, & BROOKLYN, NY (September 10, 2025) — Hachette Book Group (HBG) and Stable Distribution, the newly formed distribution division of The Stable Book Group, today unveiled its inaugural slate of publishing partners—a term the company uses by design to reflect a more imprint‑like, long‑term collaboration model. The first wave includes Bushel & Peck Books, Empress Editions, Fayetteville Mafia Press, Galpón Press, Islandport Press, Notable Kids, PUG (Pan‑Universal Galactic Worldwide), Whitefox, and Worldwide Buddies in addition to The Stable Book Group’s imprints and partners: Montague Books, Mountain Gazette, Skybox Press, Trafalgar Square Books, Ulysses Press, and VeloPress Books.
Launching in January 2026 and powered by a fulfillment partnership with Hachette Book Group—including HBG’s state‑of‑the‑art Indiana facility for North America—Stable Distribution pairs big‑house logistics with a nimble, indie‑first sales and technology stack.
“This first group of fifteen publishers reflects what The Stable is all about—distinct editorial visions, entrepreneurial teams, and books with defined audiences,” said Chris Gruener, CEO of The Stable Book Group. “By combining Hachette’s world‑class operations with a purpose‑built sales organization and our Perfect Bound technology, we’re creating an advantage for independents at every stage of a book’s life.”
Stable Distribution’s sales organization is led by Jodi Weiss, EVP, Head of Sales, a veteran sales executive formerly on Hachette’s sales leadership team and Chief Sales Officer at Workman Publishing. National Book Travelers, consisting of Imprint Group (West), Fujii Associates (Midwest), and Como Sales (East), has been appointed to represent the U.S. independent and educational wholesale markets. Manda Group will represent all sales channels in the Canadian market.
All partners will be onboarded to Perfect Bound, the end‑to‑end publishing platform for title management, real‑time sales and inventory, automated royalties, and access to a global print marketplace—standardizing data flows and accelerating speed‑to‑market across the list.
“Stable’s model gives us the logistics muscle of a major while preserving the identity and agility that define independents,” said Weiss. “Our rep‑led strategy—spanning across all channels—aims to help independent publishers reach more readers than ever before.”
